Riverside Cricket Club hosted its second 2-day timed match at AGB Riverside Park, continuing its effort to promote traditional longer-format cricket in Bangladesh’s amateur scene. Gazipur Sports Academy were fantastic opponents, fully embracing the spirit of the format over two memorable days.
Both teams stayed overnight at the Riverside Pavilion, giving the match a proper red-ball feel. The day ended with a BBQ dinner kindly hosted by Mohammed Imran, Treasurer of Riverside Cricket Club, bringing everyone together off the field as well.
Match Summary

Rezaur Rahman Rohan led the way with a classy 73, while Syed Naushad (61) and Anwar Hussain (42) showed patience and discipline. Contributions through the middle order ensured Riverside built a strong platform.
Gazipur replied with 171, despite resistance from Fahim Shah Salman. Riverside’s bowlers were outstanding, with Mohammed Atahar taking 5 wickets, well supported by Nur-E-Alam and Saiful Islam.
Riverside then batted positively in the second innings, declaring on 181/6, highlighted by an attacking 62 from Mohammed Ali Azam (Biplob)* and another fluent knock from Rezaur Rahman Rohan.
Chasing 313, Gazipur fought hard but were undone by a superb spell from Saiful Islam, who claimed 7 wickets for 21 runs, sealing a 188-run victory for Riverside Cricket Club.
More than the result, this match was about good cricket, good company, and respect for the longer format. Two days of competitive play, shared meals, and great spirit made this another successful step in bringing timed cricket back to the amateur game.
Thanks to Gazipur Sports Academy for being part of it — cricket was the real winner.

Riverside Cricket Club delivered a dominant all-round performance to secure a convincing 123-run victory over Brothers Cricket XI at the AGB Riverside Park. Batting first, Riverside posted a strong total built on collective effort, setting the platform for their bowlers to take full control of the match in an important response after last week’s loss.
The innings began with positive intent as Rohan and Hassan Choudhury provided early momentum both scoring 32 runs. The middle order kept the innings on track, led by Rafsan Sabab’s composed 23 and a solid 32 from Nur-E-Alam. The late overs belonged to Saiful Islam, who produced a breathtaking unbeaten 59 from just 24 balls, smashing 8 sixes, well supported by Mahbubul Salehin (23)*, as Riverside finished with a flourish.
Chasing a challenging target, Brothers Cricket XI struggled against disciplined bowling and sharp fielding. Ariyan (41) and Sohan (47) offered resistance, but regular wickets kept the pressure firmly on. Mahbubul Salehin capped off a fine all-round performance with 3 wickets, as Riverside’s bowlers combined to bowl Brothers out in the 31st over, sealing a comprehensive and morale-boosting win.

On a cool winter morning at AGB Riverside Park, with helpful bowling conditions and the ball swinging early, Riverside Cricket Club posted a competitive total but ultimately fell short as IUT Alumni Cricket Club chased it down with three wickets to spare in a thrilling 35-over contest.
Batting first, Riverside CC posted 222/9 in 35 overs after a spirited batting effort. The innings was ignited by Farhat’s @farhat.haq hard-hitting 42, a knock filled with clean striking that shifted momentum in Riverside’s favour. At the other end, captain Raihan @raihanalauddin played a superb innings of 71, holding the innings together with composure and leadership.
With the ball, Riverside fought hard to defend the score. The highlight came from Anwar, whose sensational burst of 3 wickets in a single over turned the game on its head and put IUT Alumni under serious pressure. The bowlers backed each other well, keeping the contest alive deep into the chase.
Despite the late fightback, IUT Alumni CC showed resilience and depth, eventually chasing down the target in a competitive and entertaining finish.
A big thank you to IUT Alumni CC for a great game played in excellent spirit. We look forward to welcoming you back next season.

MATCH REPORT | Friday 12th and Saturday 13th December, 2025 – AGB Riverside Park Ground
Riverside Cricket Club welcomed Bangladesh Lawyers Cricket Club (BLCC) for the club’s first-ever two-day amateur red-ball match—and what a memorable occasion it turned out to be, ending in a dramatic draw after two compelling days of cricket.
RCC won the toss and chose to bat, with openers Ishrak Ahmed and club Chairman Anwar Hussain showing great discipline in a gritty opening stand. They weathered tight bowling and testing conditions through the first 20 overs to set a solid platform. While the middle order found runs hard to come by, Farhat Haq stood tall with a determined top-score of 60, guiding Riverside to 161 all out in 57.4 overs.
BLCC’s reply on Day 1 was measured and controlled, as Riverside’s bowlers kept things tight. At stumps, BLCC were 105/4, setting up a finely balanced contest heading into Day 2.
Day 2, however, told a very different story. With early morning dew making life difficult for the bowlers, BLCC unleashed a dominant batting display. A monumental 200 from Monir Ahmed led the charge, backed up by a classy 100 from Muntasir Ahmed*, a commanding 93 from captain Zubi Bin Moosa, and a fluent 111 from Ashraful Islam Faysal. BLCC piled on the runs to declare on 594/9 after 89 overs, going to lunch in a commanding position.
Some felt the declaration came late, leaving BLCC just one session to force a result. After spending 89 overs in the field, RCC’s batters looked weary, and BLCC’s spinners applied relentless pressure, taking regular wickets and pushing hard for victory.
The match went right down to the wire. In a nail-biting finish, BLCC needed just one wicket off the final ball—but Riverside held their nerve to secure a hard-fought draw.
A fantastic advertisement for timed two-day cricket, played in a great spirit throughout. Both teams enjoyed the contest, and BLCC were full of praise for the warm hospitality shown by their hosts at Riverside.

MATCH REPORT | Saturday 6th December, 2025 – AGB Riverside Park Ground
A tough day at home for Riverside Cricket Club, falling to Kapasia - Gazipur Sports Academy by 2 wickets in a nail-biter.
We posted 240/9 in 40 overs, lifted by a brilliant late assault from Nur Alam Zico (80 off 37) and a solid 53 from Wasik Rahman. Despite the strong finish, it just wasn’t enough.
The visitors collapsed to 66/7, but a big partnership from Maruf (52) and Monir (54)* turned the momentum their way. Costly 62 extras made the difference in a frustrating loss.
But attention now shifts to a historic occasion — our next match is the first ever amateur 2-day game in Bangladesh, taking place on 12th & 13th December. A huge moment for the club and for local cricket.
We’ll bounce back stronger.

Riverside Cricket Club fall short in tense opener
Gazipur Sports Academy (GSA) held their nerve to defeat Riverside Cricket Club by 21 runs in a thrilling opening encounter at AGB Riverside Park Ground.
Batting first, GSA posted a competitive 175 all out in 38.4 overs, built on a string of solid contributions — Siyam (33 off 53) anchored the innings, while Emon (28), Mahadi (22), and a quickfire 19 from Azmain added valuable runs down the order.
Our left-arm off-spinner Saiful was sensational with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for just 22 runs, well supported by the rest of the bowling attack to keep the visitors in check. 🎯
Chasing 176, we had a shaky start at 34/5, before a powerful counterattack from Zico (58 off 39, 4 fours, 5 sixes) and captain Raihan (40 off 33) reignited hopes. Their partnership brought the chase back to life, but Gazipur’s bowlers struck back with tight lines and sharp fielding to bowl us out for 155.
A disappointing start to the season, but plenty of positives to take forward — we’ll look to bounce back strong in our next fixture, a 2-day game in early December.
